A very fine makie lacquer-work plaque of St. Petersburg view


In the back side on center of the plaque there is an inscription in gold relief written in French that reads “Vue Perspective des Bords de la Neva en descendant la Rivière entre la Palais d’hyver de sa Majesté Impériale et les batimens de l’Académie des Sciences à St Petersburg”,surrounded by mother-of-pearl branches inlaid.

Works

A very important pair of empire ormolu and patinated bronze four-light candelabra. Four others identical examples are still in the throne room in St.James Palace and they were bought directly to Thomire by George IV in Paris(RCIN 11853).

A North Italian fruitwood, walnut, ebony , boxwood, tulipwood and kingwood microcarving portrait relief miniature attributed to Giuseppe Maria Bonzanigo (1745-1820), depicting a standing Mars with cuirass, feathered helmet and sword, holding a spear with his right and a shield on his left hand.

A pair of rare and important Italian Rococo ormolu twin-branch Candelabra.

An important polychrome-painted japaned Venitian leather four-leaf screen, the tooled leather front decorated with chinoiserie courtly figures inhabiting a large garden with pagodas, trees palm , birds and fauna, the border decorated with flowers.
